Water adaption in national adaptation programmes for action

It has long been recognized that adaptation is critical to enable societies to deal with the impacts of both natural and anthropogenic environmental change, especially in low-income countries. This need was recognized in the process leading up to the Rio Conference in 1992. Perhaps foremost among current challenges to development is the threat of anthropogenic climate change due to greenhouse gases (GHGs).
